After received his Ph.D in Materials Science from Washington State University in 2007, Dr. Hlaing Oo worked as postdoctoral researcher in University of Utah and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. His research work involved very specialized techniques in nano-structured materials, mathematical modeling and renewable energy systems.
He hopes that ASEAN-U.S. Science and Technology Fellows Pilot Program is an excellent opportunity to broaden his knowledge more into science and policy making. He also expect that this program would proof that scientists with PhD programs are not only for laboratory based research, but also for a wide range of professions.
